Awards 3
Ten years ago there was a large and active international community of organisations and individuals who provided advice and services and offered awards to authors and designers who were prepared to submit their web sites for evaluation and critical appraisal. With the rapis advancement in technologies, programming languages, design standards and web design kits, the general enthusiasm for these facilities has waned and most of the award programs are closing or are now closed. The Communities Newsletter (ACN) is also closing but, for the time being, a valedictory page is being maintained which can be accessed from the link in the left hand navigation column.
This page is an index to the awards that have been historically presented to the site (currently 37 in total). The awards have been listed alphabetically by award program and the link leads to the actual award and laudation. It is unlikely that this page will be updated in the future.

As webmaster of the Extended Craxford Family Genealogy Magazine I can safely say on behalf of my associate editors and myself that we are delighted and honoured to display the graphics shown on these pages and are proud of the recognition afforded to the site by the programs which presented them. We also express our thanks and gratitude for the advice and patience which has been forthcoming from the administrators and evaluators of the individual programs during the assessment process. We acknowledge an over-arching principle behind the application for a web award beyond the achievement of a fancy icon. The programs represented all possess strict assessment criteria and fail large numbers of applicants. We do not apply for buddy or reciprocal awards. We are attempting to achieve and maintain the highest levels of quality of web design, content, presentation and accessibility. We are submitting our site to critical and independent peer review in the hope that we can confirm its strengths and good points, unmask its weaknesses and advance our knowledge generally of programming and the advancing needs of the milieu of the internet. - Alan D. Craxford
