Naylor 10
Terry died peacefully after a heroic fight with cancer. Seven days prior to his demise, he asked Brenda to write what he wanted in his Obituary. The following are his words. "The Good Lord rang down from the Bridge and said: 'Finished Main Engines'" in the early evening of March 13, 2021.
Terry wished to thank everyone who had been a part of his life. He said that it had been 'one heck of a ride'. He thanked his wife of twenty five years for her love and all the wonderful Radford Adventures they had enjoyed together. He said that it proved that it was never too late to find a true love in life.
He wanted to thank his step children, Micheline Paquin (Dave Byrne) and family, Sarah Kroll (Russell Perry) and their children, Roger Paquin (Renee Joyal} for accepting him. And he thanked his own family for their constant support and love, especially Anne, Tim, SaraLyne and their families. He was grateful to friends, Jean Denis, Katherine and the children for bringing continual enjoyment into his life.
He will be lovingly remembered by the younger members of the family who affectionately called him "Grunk" (great uncle). He was predeceased by his three sisters, Pauline, Margaret and Yvonne. He leaves many friends and family members to mourn in the UK, Canada and Australia.
Terry was born in Ilkeston, Derbyshire in the UK on June 23, 1927. He was a member of the Cadets as a young man and from there joined the British Army in 1945. In 1952, he joined the Australian Army. He left the UK in June 1952. He celebrated his 25th Birthday aboard the ship going to Australia. He spent 21 years in the Australian Army and rose to the rank of Warrant Officer ll. He immigrated to Canada in 1984. He met his wife Brenda in 1989. They were married on July 22, 1995. They enjoyed a full life of camping, first in a tent and finally graduating to a motor home. They drove near and far - to Alaska, Florida, and Vancouver and all the way to Newfoundland twice. They travelled to many places in Canada and the USA and he enjoyed every minute.

Terry was very interested in the history of his family as his "Meet the Editors" column on our page The Naylors of South Normanton confirms. These are two memories of a meeting we held in the south Derbyshire town back in 2007. Full details can be found at The Naylor Family Reunion
