 | The Mercantile Marine War Medal Established in 1919, this medal was issued by the Board of Trade for service in the Merchant Navy after a voyage through a war zone during the war. Cast in bronze the front shows the head of King George V; the reverse shows a merchant ship in a stormy sea surrounded by a laurel leaf. The ribbon reflects the ship's lights (red - port; green - starboard; white - masthead)
