- This may be the Joiner, named Nosworthy, who was one of the three men who died due to falling down a well shaft after having been overcome by carbonite gas. It was written up in the 3 September 1810 edition of "The Times". "a joiner, named Nosworthy, caused a rope to be fixed round his waist and was let down, but on his senses going off, the noose of the rope slipped, and he was likewise precipitated to the bottom [of the well]. ....After this they procured a grappling iron, by which the three bodies were extricated from the well, but the life of each was extinct".

- Banns of marriage between William Nosworthy and Ann Cleave were published on the 10th, 17th and 24th of September 1775. The said William Nosworthy of this parish and Ann Cleave of the same, were married in this church by banns the 10th day of October 1775 by me, Robert Taylor, Minister of Manaton. Both made their marks in the presence of William Cleave and Nathaniel Tremilla.
