Married:
- (1) William Nosworthy of this parish and Susanna Stancombe of this parish married by licence, fifteenth day of May 1803 by John Rendle. Both made their mark in the presence of Richard Brooking and John Tremills.
(2) A later marriage was found: William Nosworthy and Susanna Stancombe, 6 May 1804, by banns in the parish church. Witness was William Stancombe.
It is now believed that two William Nosworthy's married two Susanna Stancombe's. William Nosworthy, (widower of Ann Cleave), married Susannah Stancombe (widow of Isaac Stancombe; maiden name, Hamlyn), and William Nosworthy, son of William Nosworthy and Ann Cleave, married Susannah Stancombe, daughter of Isaac and Susannah Stancombe. Unfortunately, to date, there is no way of knowing which couple married first. At this point in time, because a child was baptised to one of these couples before the second marriage, and because we can only assume the younger couple had the children, the first marriage will be documented as belonging to the younger couple.
